    LAW COURSE
    SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION

The Cyr Foundation is pleased to announce the 2018 School Transportation Law Course with our legal partners at Harris Beach PLLC and with NYAPT.

    Conference W
    eekend!

The Cyr Foundation is pleased to announce that we will be offering four NAPT Professional Development Series courses in advance of the 2018 Annual Conference.

We will be opening registration for the following courses that will be offered on Friday, July 13th in two sets, one set from 8 AM-12 Noon and another set from 1 PM to 5 PM:

    • NAPT-PDS-401     Managing Human Resources I  (am)
    • NAPT-PDS-601     School Bus Routing & Scheduling I (am)
    • NAPT-PDS-701    Intro to Leadership & Management (pm)
    • NAPT-PDS-902    Crisis Communications (pm)

These courses will be useful to our members not only for their NAPT certification but also as a critical element in their NYAPT Certification.

Registration for each course will be $45.00 for NYAPT members and $55.00 for non-members, and will include your course textbook and coffee break.

401 - Managing Human Resources I: This four-hour course is a must for transportation professionals with human resource responsibilities. Topics include the legal framework of human resource management, including due process, equal protection and non-discrimination, disability law, leave of absence, drug testing, record management, wage and working conditions, collective bargaining, employment eligibility and retention.

601 - School Bus Routing & Scheduling I: A four-hour workshop that examines theories and strategies for successful routing. Route types, stop choice, and multi-trip options will be discussed as well as the development of policy and procedures and their implications for economy and safety. Computer-aided and manual routing strategies will be evaluated and compared.

701 - Introduction to Leadership & Management - A four-hour workshop that defines the role of leadership for both experienced and novice managers. The course reviews different leadership models and explains how different models must be used with different individuals and in different circumstances. Learn strategies for developing your work force into a committed team that has the preparation to get the job done right and the creativity to find even better ways to function.

902 - Crisis Communication: Crises – however you define them – are inevitable. It is therefore important to have a crisis plan ingrained into your organization's culture. A good crisis plan creates a process that enables quick reactions and intelligent decision-making throughout the ordeal. In this four-hour course you will learn about the importance of pre-planning, especially information gathering and information dissemination, and how thinking about issues in advance will help you make the best of a crisis situation.

    Cancellation:
Cancellations must be received in writing prior to Friday JULY 6, 2018 (no phone cancellations will be accepted). Refunds can be made ONLY on cancellations received before 4/06/18. NO Refunds will be made after that date. ---> NO-SHOWS will be billed and expected to honor their invoices.

    2018 CONFERENCE

    ATTENDEE REGISTRATION

This year we commemorate the 60 year history of school transportation education conferences in New York State. At this year's conference, we will take opportunities to celebrate that history and the events that have evolved over those many years.

Our theme of "A DIAMOND IN THE BUS" suggests the often understated value and contributions of the Yellow School Bus in our schools and our communities. It's a time to shine up that Diamond and share our story first among ourselves and then with our public!

Attendees at this year's conference will share in educational workshops that address important and emerging issues in our industry and profession as well as important basic operational and management topics that are so essential to our success.
